Kurt Stocker (PhD 2003) is a senior researcher (Privatdozent, PD) of psychology at the University of Zurich and a project leader for consciousness studies at the ETH Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. Additionally, he is also a research associate for psychopharmacology research in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University Hospital Basel. He investigates how the mind works. His initial contributions on the workings of the mind focused on ordinary states of consciousness and involved theoretical work (cognitive semantics) as well as empirical work (psychological experiments). Over the last years, his research focus has shifted from how the mind works in ordinary states of consciousness to how it works in non-ordinary states of consciousness. He currently investigates the phenomenology of psychedelic experiences with a special focus on experiences that match traditional religious and contemplative experiences. For this he uses his own qualitative and quantitative psychometric tools, which are constantly further developed.

Bruno Laeng is professor in Cognitive Neuropsychology at the University of Oslo. He received his Ph.D. in biological psychology from The University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA). He is currently faculty member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion (RITMO), at the University of Oslo. In 2018 he has been called to be a member of The Norwegian Academy of Science (Humanities and Social Sciences Division).
